The sad truth: You can do crunches until you’re blue in the fact, and you are still going to have flab on the abs. If you want a toned and sleek midriff, you have got to eat the right foods, and combine that with cardio workouts.
The best foods you can eat to has got to have fiber, which will help rid the bloat, antioxidants to boost any workout routines overall effectiveness, and protein that will help you maintain a healthy metabolism.
Lower Your Caloric Intake
As with any diet, it starts by lowering the amount of calories you consume each day. Basically, you do not want to eat empty calories. By slashing about 300 or so calories from your regular diet, you will be able to lose weight in a healthy fashion.
The only way to see your abs is by eating less by more frequently, it is recommended you eat six small meals a day around every 2 hours or so, at the same time slashing between 300 to 500 calories from your regular diet. It will also keep your blood glucose levels in check and mean you will feel full all day long. This helps with cravings, especially cravings of sugar and sweets.
It’s important to know that an abs diet focuses on power foods. Power foods are healthy foods that will provide you with all of your nutritional needs. The power foods that you should include in your diet are nuts, legumes and beans, green vegetables low-fat or fat-free dairy, include almonds and other nuts; beans and legumes; spinach and green vegetables; fat-free or low-fat dairy; unflavored oatmeal that is instant and unsweetened, turkey, lean meats, eggs, olive oil, peanut butter extra-protein whey powder and berries. These foods all have high protein content, some good fats, and fiber. This is to allow your body the maximum fat-burning ability. And any fat you eat will be burned as energy, as your allowed foods are all very low in carbohydrates which is what your body normally burns for energy. With a low carb intake, your body is forced to burn fat instead. And let’s face it, one of the first places fat is stored is in the abdominal area. The high fiber foods help your body stay fuller longer, and as discussed above, keep your sugar levels normal so you don’t have cravings and give into those cravings. The protein, of course, helps build muscle. The more muscle your body has, the higher your metabolism rate is.
As with any diet, the food you consume is only half your battle. You have absolutely got to incorporate a workout routine into your lifestyle. And while we all want to do 100 crunches and have that be the cure for ab flab, it’s simply not that simple. Burning fat and spot targeting are two ways to help get rid of the belly bulge. Yes, that includes crunches, but so much more. Burpees are a great quick workout to get a fast blast of cardio in, plus it works the entire body. Do two sets of 20 burpees, and see how you feel 24 hours later. Guaranteed every muscle you used is going to be sore, including your ab muscles. Any exercise that you can fit in, a walk, a jog, a Zumba class…whatever you can do to burn the fat and try to build up strength. Combine that with eating the right power foods, and you’re on your way to flat abs and amazing confidence.[social_share/]
